Two separate events this week;
3 volunteers picked up 76 lbs of trash pictured. Why can’t Portofino do it themselves? Especially as the lot is next to a conservation area

This will help to reduce dirt/debris, lawn fertilizers and pet waste from entering the Carpenter Creek watershed/Bayou Texar. In a FLDEP report of 2012 there were 1,934 septic systems in the watershed. Pages 20 -22 here. Hopefully there are fewer now.
Park West. Last public area before Ft. Pickens. Seventeen volunteers picked up 117 lbs of trash. Bringing the month’s total to 492 lbs. In this abbreviated collection year we have already surpassed 2016’s total of 5,714 lbs!
at Payne Bridge over Bayou Texar for a cleanup. Thirteen volunteers picked up 107 lbs
Over the stretch from Bartram Park to Graffiti Bridge, 18 volunteers picked up 181 lbs. Thank you
with social distancing 4 volunteers picked up 87 lbs of trash at Chimney Park. Including a shopping cart and the front valence off of a car. At Bay Bluffs 7 volunteers picked up a further 25 lbs. Not bad for first day back - 10 lbs per volunteer
went by with minor fanfare (obvious reason). The US Post office issued these stamps for the first Earth Day in 1970. Their 2020 offering is in the “Photos 2020”. Leaves something to be desired.
This past week, several volunteers/groups conducted their own pickups around the city of Pensacola/Navarre - 505 lbs
you would think there would be next to no trash along are beaches with them closed.
Not to say anything about finding plastic gloves/masks along Scenic Hwy yesterday. We can’t say its tourists that litter when finding gloves in store parking lots
on empty lots in Gulf Breeze proper. 61 lbs collected in 4 trash bags. A further 17 lbs was picked up along 0.5 miles of Scenic Hwy, south of Chimney park
