OceanHour worked with Nat’l Park rangers to collect ~3,000 lbs of lumber off the beach on the north side of the Naval Live Oaks

45 volunteers collected 368 lbs at three sites with Bob Sikes bridge included.

Dec 31st Last cleanup of the year @ Park East at the beach
Eleven volunteers picked up 234 lbs of trash from the beaches - plastic bottle caps dominated. One volunteer collected 36 caps in the one hour cleanup!
Dec 30th Big shoot out to ANDY!! 1,004 lbs of trash at Hobo Beach
Corrected monthly lbs since August with Sabine’s contribution of ~200 lbs per month. Before Andy’s unbelievable contribution of today, Ocean Hour’s pounds stands at 40,391
Dec 17th How LONG will homeless camp stay clean?
24 large garbage bags needed to pick up debris and trash (912 lbs) - NO personal items (driver license etc) were found. Monthly “progress” will be updated on “Photos”
Volunteers picked up a further 219 lbs at Wayside Park. Monthly total of 2,253 lbs brings the year to 39,274!
Unfortunately ethical contractors continue to use our parks for building debris disposal. This time a room’s worth of hardwood flooring!
On the 22nd four volunteers picked up 40#’s of litter in GB proper
Dec 10th. Three cleanups along Scenic Hwy
Two Individual cleanups this week - 1st the challenge of cleaning up Carpenter Creek
One volunteer picked up 62 lbs of trash along the shoulder on the southside of Carpenter Creek Dr at Askew Dr. - an active homeless camp was very close in the woods.
Second - one volunteer started quite a collection of bottle caps in the Dog Park East and along Via De Luna Dr (Cty Rd 399) near the Gulf Island Seashore. With plastic debris - 26 lbs. Note web master has collected 487 water bottles so far this year. How about a few more people use refillable water bottles?!
