Dec 23rd. Big finds at the west end of the Beach
Beach Toys and lots & lots of bottle caps (hundreds)!!! Unfortunately in Florida, natural springs supply water for bottle production. Blue Triton Brands is the major bottler. Why use natural spring water? COST!! Coke and Pepsi pay to use city water as a source. Blue Triton recently paid a $115 fee for up to 1.0 million gallons per day from Ginnie Springs! When will the city and county install more water bottle fill stations? (not water fountains!!). Ocean Hour with an Impact 100 grant will be installing 5 stations in the city
At Park West and the Dog Park, 18 volunteers picked up 218 lbs of litter. For the first time, I saw no Polar Ice or Whataburger styrofoam cups!
